Pacmed is on a mission to help hospitals deliver better care to millions of patients while reducing the pressure on healthcare professionals

With health care digitizing and with the fast growing capabilities of computers to learn from this data, the founders envisioned that it will be possible to directly learn from all treated patients and support health care professionals with insights for that specific patient at the moment of decision making. Always aiming for a synergy between doctor and AI and learning from practice how this promising yet also complex technology can be of most value, Pacmed started with supporting GPs in Primary Care. In 2016 Pacmed was a global pioneer by supporting 100 GPs with the treatment decision for urinary tract infections.

In the years after, Pacmed investigated where AI decision support on EHR data could contribute most significantly to solving the growing personnel challenges that were putting an immense and growing pressure on the accessibility of health care world wide.

After developing AI algorithms for and with hospitals and research organizations from medical specialisms ranging from acute care, chronic care, oncology, psychiatry and surgery, Pacmed learned in practice that ICU care is the ultimate starting point to have AI make health care future proof. Pacmed started a 10 year partnership with the Amsterdam University Medical Center and set up collaborations with almost all Dutch ICUs and health insurers. Pacmed managed to leverage the high rate of digitization and collaborative and innovative nature in Dutch health care.  This way Pacmed became world leading in bringing AI to the bedside responsibly, in having patients leave the ICU quickly, safely and healthily and in reducing the enormous pressure on ICU personnel and capacity.
